A painter paints pictures on canvas.  But musicians paint their pictures on silence.  ~Leopold Stokowski

Burning Orchestra

Burning Orchestra's Dave

Aaron and Dave Draper got their start playing in punk and hardcore bands untill they experienced bands like the Flaming Lips, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, Fugazi, Sonic Youth, the Minutemen and the Meat Puppets. They bounced around for a while with members of Cocoonlife in various bands before ending up with Greg and Roy of Five Years to Live. Later on, as tends to happen, money became short and the Drapers had to leave the band. Aaron and Dave found themselfs on their feet a few months later. Five Years to live Found Stevo P. Rockenstien to play bass. The Drapers then found Gabe Tecon Hovey to play drums. Gabe's intrest was in bands like Modest Mouse, Cursive and Bright Eyes. His style of drumming added a more refined sound and structure to the band that was needed to explore new things that all three musicians had wanted in a band. Aaron and Dave had wanted to experement with the minimalist plains of a three piece band for some time.

Múm

Múm

múm members started to play music way before the band took form. Here are the facts.
Gunni started is career by doing old-school hardcore music (some connoisseurs say that these tunes are pure dance floor anthems) on an Amiga. Maybe these tracks will be released one day, but just maybe.
Kristín and Gyða started to play piano and cello at a tender age, and when both were 9 years old, they decided to do a musical about garbage children with their classmates at music school. The boys spotted the girls playing at a community centre, as part of a dodgy band doing Pixies cover versions, both girls were then 15 years old.
Örvar began to do music when his parents bought their first computer. He needed a tune for a game he was programming on BASIC. Since then his love for bleeps as never diminished.
...now they are múm.
